A classic American drama, filled with
laughter, warmth and tenderness.
Retired couple Ethel and Norman Thayer have
spent every summer for the last 48 years, at
their home on Golden Pond. Ethel, devoted and
patient, delights in all the joy that fills
their lives. She is the perfect companion and
foil to tart-tongued and retired professor,
Norman.
This year their adult daughter visits, leaving
her fiancé’s teenage son behind for the summer.
The turbulent relationship between father and
daughter, the generation gap between young
and old, and the difficulties facing a couple
in the twilight years of a long marriage, all
combine to create a moving and tender story.
This award winning play offers a unique
insight into the relationships that build a
modern family and the love that holds it all
together.
